Cofradía de Pescadores San Bartolomé de Noia is an organisation established in 1926, representing over 500 fisherman and 1400 associates. The Cofradía has government formed by ten members, where the Head Director is the "Patrón Mayor" (Mr. Santiago Cruz Martínez). The Cofradía focuses on the production of a number of different shellfish species (i.e. clams, cockles and oysters), cultivated on and harvested from natural banks of the Ría de Muros-Noia. More than 9 million m2 of sandy coastal area is used for the sustainable production of high quality shellfish. In response to increased market demand, the Cofradía is developing new hatchery-nursery facilities in the Ría de Muros-Noia, and anticipates the production of 12 million Ostrea edulis, in addition to other species. The knowledge obtained during the SETTLE project will help to improve seed production of Ostrea edulis.

Cofradía de Pescadores San Bartolomé de Noia will assist with on-farm experimental work in WP2 and WP3.
